Don't miss two of the best time trials of
the season. These are the Joint Maldon and
Southend 25 on Sunday Sept 5
and the Interclub on Saturday Sept
11. Take the rare chance to compete
against riders from some of our neighbouring
clubs on a different course than our usual
10 course, and to meet them over
refreshments afterwards.
The Joint Maldon & Southend 25 is one of two
events organised in conjunction with the
Maldon CC, the other being the Joint 30 that
we are organising on Oct 24. Normally the
Steeple Village Hall would be used, but
because this is not available Maldon have
booked the Lawling Park Hall at Mayland.
The Interclub, is a competition held between
clubs, principally ourselves, Chelmer, and
Colchester. Any number of riders can turn up
and ride from each club but the fastest four
times for each club are added together and
whichever is lowest wins the
competition. Each club takes it in turn to
organise the event, and this year it is at
Chelmsford.
Here are the details, the courses should be
properly marshalled but I have included a
rough description of them in case you do not
have a local handbook:
Joint Maldon and Southend 25
Sun Sept 5 Start 9:00
Course:E21/25a
Start just before Steeple then follow 10
course, back thro' Steeple to Mayland Mill
where left and left again at T junction into
Green Lane to Asheldham (usually a lovely
fast straight run). Left onto B1021, through
Tillingham then left at T junction back onto
10 course to finish in same place as 10
course.
HQ Lawling Park Hall, Mayland,
On the road to Steeple turn left at Mayland
on "The Drive", 600 yds then left into
Katatonia Avenue, 80 yds then left into car
park immediately after school. HQ is in
wooden building at end of car park.
Interclub 25
Sat Sept 11 Start 14:00
Course E83/25b
Start on Blackmore road in the middle of
College wood where the bridleway crosses,
past Blackmore green and duck pond, At Park
Farm bear left into Ingatestone road, left
again at Wood Barns Farm. Proceed left into
Mill Green road through Fryerning and Mill
Green, then turn left at the Viper PH. Left
again at T junction in Highwood to complete
the circuit. Repeat circuit twice more to
finish at Start.
HQ Chelmer CC Clubhouse
From Southend, new A130, straight on under
A12 into Chelmsford, straight across Army
and Navy roundabout signed A1060 Town Centre
(or over the fly over), follow dual
carriageway straight across two large
roundabouts and under viaduct then follow
left hand lane onto A1016 signed for Writtle
and London (A12). Pass the Fire Station
then next left into Meteor Way. The
clubhouse is at the end of Meteor way.
