My next ride was a trip up the Vallee du Veneon to the community of la
Berarde. This was only an ascent to about 1,700m but still represented
1,000m of climbing from Bourg D'Oisan. Much of the height was gained in
two very steep sections. The scenery was again stunning, proving that you don't need to climb the very highest mountains. |
| The community of la Berarde was fascinating mix of cafes and hostels! It is deep into the Parc National des Ecrins and is a famous base for rock climbing and walking. There are several trails to mountain refuges. | |
