The Easter Egg Time Trial

Southend Wheelers promoted their first club 10 miles time trial of the season for the Easter Egg Trophy on Bank Holiday Monday. A total of 52 Wheelers members and guest riders took to the road out at Steeple on a damp overcast morning.

Junior rider, Simon Alexander, fresh from another excellent 2nd podium spot at Hogg Hill on Saturday, finished in a superb time of 23 minutes and 53 seconds, beating all of the club’s specialist time trialists to take the trophy. Second place went to David Bryant with a time of 24mins, 16secs, and Junior George Pearl took third spot in 25 mins, 39 secs. The only competitor to beat Alexander was quest rider David Bradnam from the Fitch Chrono club, who recorded a time of 23 mins, 39 secs.

Fastest Southend Wheelers lady was Julie Kane, who recorded a time of 36 mins, 42 secs, only just beating Jane Harris, a novice riding in her very first time trial, who finished only 3 seconds slower than Julie in 36mins, 45 secs. Fastest lady overall was guest rider Jan Burrows, who recorded an excellent 28mins, 31secs. Jan is a member of East Essex Tri Club, who were very well represented in the event. Full Time Trial Results van be found by clicking here
