Time Trial Updates & Go-Ride Coaching   

In the Eastern Counties Cycling Association 25 miles time trial on the Chelmsford/Dunmow course, Wheelers Keith Dalton returned a time of 1hr, 7mins, 19secs for 21st place. Top podium spot went to Richard O’Rourke who posted an excellent time of 54mins, 50secs. 

Four Southend Wheelers riders traveled to Bishops Stortford on Sunday for the Comet CC 25 miles time trial. Fastest of the Wheelers was David Bryant who recorded an excellent time of 59mins, 48secs. Other wheelers times were; Keith Dalton 1hr, 6mins, 10secs, Ian Mackenzie 1hr, 16mins, 43secs and eighty years old Roy Godbeer who posted a creditable 1hr, 18mins, 34secs. Fastest rider on the day was Sam Barker with a time of 54mins, 57secs.

Audax specialist Mike Street completed the Suffolk 126 kilometers Audax on a day with very strong winds, making it a very testing event for the 200 hundred or so entrants. 

There have been good turnouts for the Sunday training and social rides at Canewdon. These will be continued throughout the coming winter months and new members are welcome to “come and try” with rides tailored to all abilities. 

Also taking place at Canewdon are British Cycling “Go-Ride” coaching sessions, teaching young riders of all ages up to 16, bike handling skills in a fun way. The sessions take place in a safe off-road environment on Sunday mornings adjacent to Canewdon Village Hall, commencing at 11 am. Next session is on Sunday 25th October. Non club members are welcome.
