On Saturday Southend Wheelers
riders were at the Redbridge Cycle Circuit at Hogg Hill for the last in
the series of Rapha Condor races. In the category H veterans race Roy
Godbeer took an excellent 1st place, which also secured the
top podium place as the overall category H winner of the series. In the
Elite, 1 and 2 cat race, junior George Pearl finished unplaced in the
main bunch of riders. |

On Sunday veteran John Silvey competed in the Essex Roads CC’s 25 miles time trial for riders competing on bikes made before 1980. Silvey took an excellent 1st place on age standard in which riders over 40 are given a handicap allowance which increases with their age. Also on Sunday 19 Southend Wheelers including four ladies took part in the 52 miles London to Southend Bike Ride. All successfully completed the course. The usual Sunday training and social rides took place at Canewdon albeit with reduced numbers due to the other activities taking place. |
