Burnham & Baddow Sportive 2011

Southend & County Wheelers are promoting their Annual Burnham & Baddow Cyclo Sportive this coming Sunday 6th February 2011, with a choice of two distances of 40km or 100km routes from East Hanningfield Village Hall.

An Entry fee payable on the day is only £5 with all profits going to charity.

Registration is from 8:00am with a choice of rides;
For club cyclists and serious riders there is a 100km (60 miles) event. Starting at 9:00am  For those not as fit there is the more friendly 40km (25 miles) ride. Starting from 9:30am.

Both routes head east towards the Dengie peninsular, with the longer route heading as far as Burnham-on-Crouch. The two routes join again on the westward return along the Blackwater Estuary until they divide again near Maldon. The short route returns directly to East Hanningfield, whilst the longer route turns northwards to Hatfield Peveral before returning via North Hill, Little Baddow, Danbury and Bicknacre.

Long Route (100km)
East Hanningfield - Cold Norton - Althorne -Burnham-on-Crouch - Southminster - Althorne -  Asheldham - Tillingham - Steeple - Latchingdon - Purleigh - Cock Clarks - Woodham Walter - Hatfield Peveral - Little Baddow - Danbury - Bicknace - East Hanningfield

Short Route (40km)
East Hanningfield - Cold Norton - Althorne - Latchingdon - Purleigh - Cock Clarks - Woodham Mortimer - Bicknacre - East Hanningfield

Route cards will be provided at the start.

Club officials urge all riders to dress accordingly for the weather conditions, carry food and drink and wear a hard shell helmet.

Please note: there is no service available at the start or en-route.
