Saturday June 18th 2011. Course E21/10 Steeple/Bradwell.
Maldon and District CC Spoco 10 miles time trial incorporating the
District GHS Youth Championship.
Torrential rain and strong winds threatened the abandonment of the
event, but fortunately 15 minutes before the start time the clouds
cleared and blue skies and sunshine prevailed for all of the
competitors. However, the strong winds remained making the return leg of
the course very tough.
Keith Dalton and Denise Kemp returned creditable times of 25mins, 20secs
and 27mins 2secs respectively. Denise's time equaled her best on the
course and was fast enough to win her the group 'D' award.
In the GHS District Championship Hannah Kane and Jordan Kemp rode well
in the tough conditions to achieve times of 34mins, 22secs and 35mins,
28secs respectively, that gave them 1st and 2nd places in the girls 13
age category. Hannah's win qualifies her to go through to the National
Finals later in the year. Well done to both girls.
