Sky Go-Race at Priory Park On Saturday morning, the club provided youngsters across Southend the opportunity to find out what it is like to race with their own Go-Ride Race event in Priory Park. The morning started with the riders receiving tuition in various aspects of the course, including how to get a good start and cornering. Split into their age categories, each group then competed in an individual time trial around the course followed by a mass start race on one or more laps. Each rider received a race peak cap, cycling mitts and bottle with the winners and runners up receiving medals and certificates, supplied by British Cycling and Sky. Southend Wheelers are holding another event this coming Saturday 9th July. Chris Smith, Club Chairman and coach said ‘regardless of your age Southend Wheelers cater for all aspects of cycling from leisure through to competition. If you are looking for a cycling club then why not visit us on Sunday mornings at Canewdon Village Hall from 10am until 1pm’.
