Track racing

Keep pedalling!

The Wheelers have a track day each year where the Club Track Championships are contested. This year they are on Sunday 17th July at Herne Hill Velodrome, London SE24. If you are a Gold or Silver member of British Cycling, this membership allows you to ride the championships without further day licence issues, just the race entry to pay for!

For those new to track cycling - visit the advice on the British Cycling website

A track bike is the simplest of all racing bikes - one gear, no brakes and no fear! For our track day, you can have the loan of a track bike for the session, there will be one available in your size!

A guide to Track cycling in the UK

If you want to progress and improve your track cycling, get a suitable track bike as soon as possible. The (seat tube) frame size can be 2 cms more than your road bike size. Bike storage is possible at Lee Valley Velodrome, but is expensive and has high demand. A starter track bike (new) is £450 + but there are pre-loved options on Facebook.

We need race officials for the Track Day, to make decisions on a close finish like this one!

Race officials can also get some track time in with Taster sessions in between the Championship events if you want to try track riding, but not racing!
