When we are not riding our bikes
Club awards Dinner was on Saturday 11th February 2023
The year started with what is usually our main social event in February – the Annual Awards Dinner, held at the Chalkwell Park Rooms. This gave members new and old and some guests the chance to see all the silverware and trophies that the club has to offer and the awards that members can aim to win over the coming season. We had a guest speaker each year, normally from our local cycling community - this year the Guest Speaker was Kevin Darragh a well established BC MTB, Road and Time Trial coach. In 2022 he successfully coached a group of Wheelers women to prepare them for the Travers MTB series.
Centenary social Sunday 14th May 2023
This is at Red Brick Barn, Shopland Road, Rochford SS4 1LH between 11:00-14:00.
Centenary Buffet and Reunion Sunday 19th November
Saxon Hall, Aviation Way, Southend on Sea SS2 6UN 13:00-17:00 hrs

Summer sees the club’s annual barbecue, held at Canewdon Village Hall after club runs, this year's event was on Sunday 10th July. This is also ‘club sports day’ – a chance to play all the fun team games, such as rounders, three leg races, and sack races.
In November each year we organise a Reunion lunch, where current and former members celebrate their time with the Wheelers. A chance for you to meet your cycling heroes (who may have taught you how to ride a ride properly?!) This year it will be combined with a Centenary dinner.
Christmas – each year we hold a Christmas Time Trial followed by Christmas lunch in a local pub, this year it is on December 17th 2023 at the Shepherd and Dog.
In addition to the above events, other events maybe organised throughout the year such as murder mystery nights, quiz nights and meals after evening time trials.
There is always the chance to socialise after Sunday rides when all the groups return to Canewdon for tea, coffee and cake and a chat.
