Action-packed racing as Webber and Lancaster are crowed champions
Southend Wheelers hosted a landmark day of racing on the East Hanningfield circuit on Sunday, with the Andrews Trophy and Florrie Newbery Classic attracting top riders from across the country. For the first time in the club’s history, both events were also broadcast live by Monument Cycling. Making a difference, Southend Wheelers raises £1,654 for MND association
Southend Wheelers are delighted to share the news that the Spring Ride, held in March raised an impressive £1,654.75 for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. Mist, miles and massive smiles: Spring Ride delivers for MND
Not deterred by a chilly, misty Sunday morning 167 riders took part in Southend Wheelers first event of the year, the Spring Ride. Despite the cold start, the atmosphere was anything but. Ken Lazell
Ken Lazell 20/8/32 – 2/1/26 Former Club track and time trial champion Ken Lazell passed away earlier this month, aged 93. Ken was a member of De Laune CC after his National Service, and then Benfleet & District Wheelers, and then St Michaels CC, before joining Southend (& County) Wheelers. Spotted – Santa(s) in Canewdon
Santa(s), Reindeer, Elves were all spotted in the Canewdon on Sunday morning competing in Southend Wheelers annual Christmas time trial, held over seven miles. Many of the riders got into the Christmas spirit by dressing up in Christmas attire and adorning their bikes with lights and tinsel. The top three placings in both the men’s and women’s categories went to riders from East Essex Tri-Club. Fastest rider on the day was Ian George who completed the course in a time of 20:1
