Southend Wheelers took an important step forward in rider and volunteer safety this weekend, proudly receiving a Mindray BeneHeart C1A Fully Automatic Defibrillator from The Finish Line Fund.

Club Chairman, Matt Stock, said “this vital piece of lifesaving equipment will give us all peace of mind at our events and sessions.” He confirmed it will be added to the club’s event toolkit immediately, ready for use throughout the remainder of the 2026 season and as preparations begin for 2027, adding “We are hugely grateful to The Finish Line Fund for their support.”

Mark and Nicki Benham from The Finish Line Fund provided a practical demonstration and answered questions from club members and volunteers. Their support ensures the club is confident and prepared should an emergency ever arise.

The Finish Line Fund champions community sport across Southend and East Essex sporting bodies and grassroots safety initiatives. You can learn more about their work here: finishlinefund.org.
