Southend Wheelers are actively involved in recruiting youth riders in to the sport of cycling. Every other Saturday they hold  their Youth Cycling Club at Thorpe Bay School, Thorpe Bay where they run the British Cycling ‘Go-Ride’ scheme. The scheme is aimed at improving the younger rider’s ability to control their cycle. Exercises range from the Slalom and Ride the Line, through to the Gate Relay and Bottle pick up. For the older riders the club’s coaches provide a series of training exercises more suitable for competition.
