A fast-attacking race

Andrews Trophy cycle road race report

Southend Wheelers promoted their annual Andrews Trophy cycle road race event on Sunday morning, July 31.

A full field of 60 riders took part on the short circuit rolling roads around the East Hanningfield and Howe Green. The 13+ laps, eighty-mile event, produced a fast-attacking race from the outset with a small group of riders breaking away in the first couple of laps, only to be pulled back in to a second breakaway group. For a short period, mid-race, the whole field came back into one large bunch before the attacks resumed, when with two laps to go the three riders who would make the podium broke away. In the final uphill sprint to the finish Charles Agar (Stolen Goat Road Team) took half a bike length from second place, Daniel Shoobridge (No Pinz Motip Road Team) and third place Joshua Jones (All in Racing).
