The last event of the season and of our centenary year, saw club riders take the opportunity to dress up in festive costume, fixing baubles and bells to their bikes and in some cases to their shoes. As is custom with this event, most chose to ride road bikes, some riding fixed wheels and even a Brompton made an appearance.
The exposed 7-mile course near Canewdon saw riders fighting a head wind to the turn, and tail wind to assist them back to the finish.
First place went to David Pennington (19:42), with second place going to Matt Jones (23:02) and third to Jennie Pennington, who was also the fastest woman on the day (23:44). Youth rider, Charles Langford finished fifth overall (24:19), whilst woman veteran Carol Cartwright set a new age record (26:16).
Other awards went to Zena Shean for the best fancy dress costume and silliest bike which was awarded to Martin Harris on his Brompton.
Following the event it was back to the clubroom for a hot drink and mince pies, before members went off to continue the festive celebrations for Christmas lunch.
