Although this event would only attract one Wheeler member, Katie Ann Elliston, who rides off of a 2nd cat licence, the success of the event will be of interest to the Club committee, who after the AGM discussed the possibility of promoting a BC Women's race on the same day as the Andrews Trophy. There are a lot of London based Women riders (looking at the results of races at LVVP crit circuit), so hopefully the Finsbury Park CC can attract these riders out of London to race. Given that there was a Women's World Tour race in Essex in 2021, any legacies from this event seems to be absent. Any women only races at the new Colchester circuit rarely have riders in double figures so far.
FINSBURY PARK CC WOMEN’S ROAD RACE 2023 As the date approaches, this is a quick reminder that the closing date for entries is 5pm Tues 11 April. This is one of only four Women’s races on the open road being promoted by British Cycling in the Eastern Region this year. The field is building up well with a good balance between the categories. I’m hugely appreciative of any further promotion you can give the race amongst your club’s women members and peers to help make this a success and underwrite the sustainability of such events. Recap on details: Date: Sunday 16 April 2:30 Distance: 90km Categories: Regional A (2, 3, 4 Senior/Junior) Course: Wendens Ambo, Saffron Walden Registration and further details are on the British Cycling Website.
