June is shaping up to be a busy month for Southend Wheelers, so it’s time to get some dates into your diary.
We kick things off with the Women’s Festival of Cycling, a week-long celebration of Women’s Cycling, for the beginner or the more seasoned rider. We have a variety of rides, some very local in and around Southend, with others slightly further afield exploring the Essex countryside. We have an off-road ride from Belfairs Woodland Centre and at the end of the week our coaches will be on hand for a coaching session, perfect for anyone looking to build confidence or sharpen their skills.
Our time trials get into full flow in June. First up is the non-aero 10-mile TT – a chance to leave the high-tech gear at home, dust off the steel frame (if you have one?), get on to the dropped bars and see how fast you can go without all those modern-day extras.
The ever-popular Saturday 7s (7-mile TTs) return on 7th June, followed by the Club Championship 10-mile TT the very next day. And for those who enjoy a longer distance, don't miss the Norman Wells Open 50-mile TT at the end of month. Enter today via the Cycling Time Trials website.
