The Florrie Newbery Classic
Southend Wheelers are proud to announce a new Women’s Road Race ‘The Florrie Newbery Classic’ which will take place on the afternoon of Sunday 28th April, following the Andrews Trophy Road Race which is being held in the morning.
The Regional A (Female) – is open to senior and junior female 2nd, 3rd and 4th category riders with a full racing licence or holders of a day licence.

Who was Florrie Newbery?
Florrie Newbury was the first woman to join Southend Wheelers (3rd February 1937). Florrie went on to lead many club runs, generate interest for local women riders to join and compete in Time Trials.
