Climbing to the top

As the racing season heads towards the winter, Southend Wheelers held their annual Hill Climb Championships at the weekend. In glorious autumn weather, perfect for hill climbing 17 riders took on the 1.1km climb of North Hill, Little Baddow in what proved to be a very competitive event.

Simon Alexander riding for RichardsonsTrek (1:45:20) took the narrowest of wins from James Wicks, HPC (1:45:41) with Shane Jarvis, Colchester CC (2:10), beating Southend Wheeler, Ben Bowler, by one second (2:11).



Paula Scates won the Women’s event (3:23) beating second place Cheryl Perry (3:25) and third place Melanie Lamb (3:59).
