Langford sets new club record

Youth rider Charles Langford put his name in the club history books last weekend (Sat 16 March) whilst competing in the ECCA 10-mile time trial on the E2 course near Cambridge.

Taking over 1 minute off his best ride, he finished in a time of 20 mins 56 secs, finishing 7th place overall, 3rd on handicap, beating the previous club record held by James Jenkins by 5 seconds.

Fellow club rider David Carey, competing in his first time trial for several years finished with a respectable time of 25 mins 6 secs.

Charles was back in action on Sunday morning in the pouring rain racing in the youth A ( under 16 ) Velo Schills Interbike event at Colchester Cyclopark.

Instigating several attacks throughout the race and getting into several breaks in the process, the field came back together in the later part of the race. Undeterred, Charles attacked again on the last lap, to be joined by two other riders who bridged the gap making it a three-rider sprint as they approached the finish, with Charles taking second place behind George Collins racing for the promoting team Velo Schills Interbike, whilst fellow ‘Wheeler’ team member, Jon Rouse, finished just outside the top ten in 12th place.
