Every month we take a quick look across the club at what has been happening, from leisure cycling to the racing, with everything between.
Road Racing
Barry Simpson got things rolling at the start of the month on the Road Racing front, finishing fourth in the bunch sprint and second in his age category in the BMCR road race, promoted by the Finchley RT on the Viper circuit near Blackmore. Club junior Tom Womack and senior Henry O’Kill both stretched their legs in the 3rd and 4th category event a week later on the Northern Gateway circuit, Colchester. Whilst senior riders Jon Rouse and Dan Pugh have both been competing on the Hog Hill circuit, Hainult.
Off-road
Cheryl Perry continued to cement her lead for the club women following her performances in the Travers MTB event series held near Hockley. Club Junior Cavan Burrows was not so fortunate when he crashed early in the second event towards the end of the month and will spend the next few weeks recovering.

Track
Bob Barber has been competing and flying the club colours around the country. During May Bob gained one 1st; three 2nd and one 3rdplacings in scratch and elimination races in the Brooks Cycles track league in Newcastle under Lyne, and one 1st and 2nd placings in the Herne Hill vets league.
Time trialling

The club time trialists have been producing several good results throughout the month. Dave Pennington won the Maldon 25-mile time trial by 25 secs from his nearest rival completing the undulating course in a time of 56 mins 31 secs and winning the John Norris Trophy in the process. Whilst both Dan Jenkins and Jan Harvey-Burns, finished in third place in the respected men’s and women’s events.
Towards the end of the month Dan Jenkins produced a ride of 1hr 52mins for a 50-mile TT which added to his rides already this year at 10 and 25-miles is placing him in good contention for the club BAR (Best All Rounder) competition.
Club runs

Away from the racing scene the club continue to run their weekly Sunday morning club runs attracting a range of abilities with a good number who were able to use these rides as training for when they took part in the Ride London events held in the last weekend of the month, with over 10 riders taking part.
