Southend Wheelers Hill Climb Championships, one of the oldest in the clubs history, was held at the weekend.
Twenty-seven riders took on the short sharp climb of on Vicarage Hill, Benfleet, a combination of endurance sprinting and climbing.
Club junior, Wilbur Morgan-Hobbs led the club riders home in a time of 1min 27secs with a clear distance over second placed veteran Chris Smith (1min 41 secs), and third placed Junior Isaac Phillips (1min 47 secs).
Other club riders finished: John-Paul Paduano (4th), Ben Pennington (5th), Paul Gribbon (6th), Barry Simpson (7th), Yogesh Patel (8th), Marc Brant and Ian Maulkin (tied at 9th), Phil Brant (11th), and Simon Gretton (12th) complete the club results. In the open category event Matt Steel (Pronto Bikes) took first place in a time of 1min 14secs ahead of Wilbur and third placed Tom Raettig (1min 33secs).
