There was a lot of silverware on show Saturday evening when Southend Wheelers held its annual awards dinner. The three big winners of the evening, who are going to need bigger trophy cabinets were: Junior Cavan Burrows, Dan Jenkins who also picked up the most improved rider of the year, and Jan Harvey-Burns who collected a staggering 14 awards!
Former junior and club member Andy Lyons was the guest of honour. Andy now the Richardson Trek Team manager, spoke about how he joined the Wheelers at 15 years of age and progressed up through the sport through to wearing a GB jersey, giving some insight in to the elite world of our sport.
During the evening a raffle, raised £270 for Alex Dowsett’s ‘Little Bleeders’, which supports young people with blood disorders.
Now on to 2022 and the season ahead, if you’ve got a bike then why not come along and find out what we are all about?
