Southend Wheelers had a strong showing across multiple cycling events over the weekend, with club members competing in National Youth GHS 10-mile Championships, British Masters Track Championships, Triathlons, and time trials around the UK.
Youth riders impress at the National 10-Mile GHS championships
Charles Langford and Henry Jago both represented the Wheelers at the Cycling Time Trials (CTT) National Youth (GHS) 10-mile championships on Sunday. Henry positioned in the top 25, finishing the largely flat course with a time of 24:45.

Charles Langford continued his ability to make it on to the podium by finishing third overall in an impressive time of 21:35 and taking first place in his age category, his focus now turns to the traditional end-of-season hill climbs.
Barber races to victory at the British Masters Track Championships
Bob Barber displayed the club colours to other competitors at the British Masters Cycle Racing (BMCR) track championships in Newport, South Wales over the weekend. Competing in the 'G' category (70-74 years of age), Barber delivered an impressive performance across multiple events, securing three podium finishes.
1st in the Keirin
2nd in both the Sprint and the 500m Time Trial
3rd in the Points Race
In the team sprint, he narrowly missing out on a bronze medal by just 0.064 seconds!

Walsh records a personal best at the Vitruvian Triathlon
Dan Walsh competed in the Vitruvian Triathlon, a renowned middle-distance triathlon in Rutland on Sunday, which features stunning landscapes and a challenging course. The event consisted of a 1.9km open water swim, an 89km bike ride, and a 21km run.
Dan finished with a personal best time of 5:07:53, placing 17th in his age group.

Success at the SPOCC 25-Mile Time Trial
The Wheelers team of Philip Brant, David Carey and Paul White took part in the SPOCC 25-mile time trial (organised by Basildon CC), on the demanding Viper circuit near Blackmore. Despite heavy rain on the morning of the race that made racing conditions harder over the undulating circuit, their collective performance secured a team victory, whilst David Carey won the individual handicap competition.
