Southend Wheelers’ men won the team award in the HPC open 10-mile time trial at the weekend. Henry O’Kill (21:13), Dave Pennington (22:14) and Dan Jenkins (22:37) finished in a combined time of 1 hr, 6 mins, 22 secs, over 40 seconds ahead of their nearest rival.
Not to be out done by the men’s success, Jennie Page won the Women’s event (26:47) and finished second in Veteran Woman’s event. Whilst the club’s junior riders Antoine Rouyer-Brown (25:35) and Thomas Womack (25:56) gained second and third respectively.
Other notable rides on the day came from David Jacobs (28:39) who was representing the club in his first time trial; Matthew Stock (26:50); Stuart Mulchinock (26:06); Adam Jones 27:47; Hanna Shean 30:12 along with her mother Zena (30:41).
